Boise State 11, Idaho 7

April 21, 2012 – Moscow, ID

Believe it or not, this was actually a righteous game until the very end.  Idaho went up 3-1 in the first quarter but the Broncos fought back and took a 4-3 lead into the half.  The third set was Idaho’s advantage and the game was knotted at 6s going into the 4th quarter.  Idaho went up 7-6 on an inside tally by midfielder Patrick Tunison.  From then it was all Broncos, who went on a 5-0 run to take the match 11-7.

Idaho was lead in scoring by senior attackman John Kopke (2g, 1a).  Senior Vandal netminder Blake Uphus had 11 saves (.500%).

Boise State’s seniors goalie, Kevin Kaup, was a bit more clutch with a whopping 19 saves (.731%).  BSU junior attackman Gunner Guth lead the way with 5 points (4g, 1a).  Fellow attackmen Brian Scott (freshman) and Karson Fullmer (sophomore) as well as senior midfielder Jeremy Bradburn all chipped in 3 points.

This was the end of the line for Boise State who missed the PNCLL playoffs.  BSU ends its 2012 campaign at 4-6 (1-2 in the PNCLL D1-South).

Idaho, now 3-8 (1-2 PNCLL D1-North) finishes its regular season hosting the University of Washington in Moscow this Saturday.  The winner of that game will meet the Oregon Ducks in the PNCLL semi-finals on May 5.

Bronco galleries somewhere?

One last stellar effort from BSU's Kevin Kaup

College of Idaho 19, Pacific Lutheran 10

April 21, 2012 – Caldwell, ID

The dueling flagships weren’t the only Idaho teams in action on Saturday.  The College of Idaho Yotes hosted the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes in a PNCLL-D2 cellar-dwellar match.  C of I decided to come alive for the last game of their season and pummeled the hapless Lutes 19 to 10.  Senior attackmen Vicente Aranguiz had the finest game of his college career, putting up 7 points (6g, 1a).  Freshmen attackmen Austin Mendiola and Patrick Erstad knotched a solid 10 (4g, 6a) and 9 (5g, 4a) points, respectively.  Junior goalie Ryan Gibson had 18 saves, good for .643%.

Not seeing any pictures on the College of Idaho Lax Facebook Page, so you won’t see any here either.

The Coyotes end their short season at 2-5 and 0-4 in PNCLL’s D2-South.

Attention ‘Yotes and Broncos:  put game photos up on your Facebook pages next season.  Seriously.
