Grand Opening! Idaho Lax Reporter and ILA Summer League 2011

Big Announcement #1:

Hear ye!  Hear ye!  Let it be known to all laxers here present from the Gem State of Idaho and all onlookers and well-wishers far and wide that you have reached the Idaho Lax Reporter — Idaho’s new hub for statewide lacrosse coverage at the youth, high school, collegiate, and club level!

Please take a few moments to peruse the site — you’ll see that we’ve already collected all the recent Idaho lax news fit to print.  If you aren’t familiar with and the LAS Network, take an extra few minutes to check out the main site and its many hubs.

Big Announcement #2:

Simultaneous to the grand opening of the Idaho Lax Reporter, registration has gone live for ILA Men’s Summer League 2011.

Mike Band (me) and James Stewart (Peaches) of Scallywags Lacrosse Club run summer league for the ILA.  We’ve partnered with to provide media coverage of the league and some sweet equipment which we’ll be talking about in future posts.

For now, if you’re a male laxer in the Treasure Valley and you’re 16 or older, head on over and SIGN UP FOR ILA SUMMER LEAGUE 2011!!

Got questions about the league?  We’ve got answers.

What is the cost? The cost is $75 for all position players or $50 for goalies.  Late registrants (after June 22, 2011) will be charged an additional $25 late fee.

What does the fee cover? Registration fee covers all required costs.  You will be placed on one of the eight summer league teams.  You will get a custom Team Pinny as well as a pair of our exclusive Summer Apollo Shorts.  You can check out the Team Pinnies and the LAS Summer Apollo Shorts at our Facebook Fan Page.

How do I pay? Registrants must pay online with credit/debit card or Paypal.  Neither cash nor check will be accepted.  After you fill out the following registration info, you will be taken to a Paypal payment page.  If you do not have Paypal, select the option that says “Don’t have Paypal Account?” to pay by debit or credit card.  YOU MUST COMPLETE PAYMENT TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION.

Can I register a team? No.  You register as an individual and the Summer League staff will place you on a team according to your age, position, and experience.  You can request to be paired with a friend through the Lax ID Buddy System during registration, however team balance comes first and we can’t guarantee that your request will be granted (especially if you’re an experienced player).

Who can register for ILA Summer League 2011? This league is for male players of any skill level, ages 16 and above.Any registrants under the age of 16 will not be allowed to play and will be issued a prompt refund.  Please contact the ILA for information about youth and women’s summer league

When is the registration deadline? The registration deadline is June 22, 2011.  Any registrations after that time will incur a $25 late fee.

When and where are the games played? The season will run on Tues/Thurs nights from July 5-Aug 11 at Fairmont Park, located at the southeast corner of the intersection of N. Milwaukee Street and Northview Street .  Your exact schedule will be emailed to you after registration closes.

Do I need experience? No.  Summer league is open to all novices.  Last year we had several new players, including a number of dads and youth coaches.

    I like the way your league is set up; kind of similar to ours, but more advanced all around.  As a fellow organizer in a newer state, I am intrigued.  I have nerdy organizational questions that I’ll email to you.

    BTW, do you guys get dumbasses asking about corn like we get dumbasses asking about potatoes?  Why people get Iowa and Idaho confused is beyond me.
