(Now that's what I call an eloquent headline.)
We’ve been busy here at the Lax Reporter. And by “we,” we mean “I.” Not busy with Lax Reporter stuff mind you, busy with the other job — you know, the one that actually pays. But I digress. I’m forcing in a break from our regularly scheduled lack of programming because there are some things going on this weekend that you really ought to know about.
Friday, 4:00 pm – Boise State kicks off their 2012 campaign at home by hosting the reigning MCLA D1 National Champion BYU Cougars. I know it sounds like a long shot, but upsets happen when you play lax in early February. Has a chance at being an interesting match. More details here.
Friday, 5:30-7 pm – Elite Lacrosse (more on these guys soon) and Lax ID have brought in Former All-American at Princeton and MLL player Lorne Smith to put on a free shooting & offense clinic at the Elite Lacrosse gym on Westpark (two doors down from Lax ID). There will be a demonstration and instructional time as well as a fastest shot contest where Warrior will be awarding prizes. If you want to shoot, bring your lacrosse stick and gloves. No other equipment is required. This thing is open to all ages, free of charge, and indoors; it’s a great opportunity to come learn something without breaking the bank or having to put on a parka.
Saturday, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm– Lorne Smith will be putting on a free boys’ lacrosse coaching clinic on the Blue at Boise State. Lorne will demonstrate the techniques of dodging, off-ball movement, and the motion offense.
Sunday, 2:00 pm – #18 Simon Fraser takes on the Broncos. Simon Fraser is 1-0 after “squeaking” by D2 Western Washington 16-12. If Boise State comes out hot, this could be the game of the weekend. An upset over Simon Fraser would be a signature win for the Broncos. More details here.
