Last night (5) Mountain View took on (1) Centennial while (3) Eagle attempted to upend (2) Timberline. The short version is that we’ll be having yet another Centennial vs Timberline TVLL championship.
The long version is that Mountain View very nearly pulled off a monster upset, at one point holding a 5 goal advantage over Centennial. Reports are that a string of late-game penalties and other officiating calls against Mountain View turned the tide in favor of the Patriots, who came back to win 11 to 10 in overtime. By all accounts this was a fantastic game and both teams played lights out.
On the other side of town, Timberline never trailed against the Mustangs who gave up a season-high 10 points. Nevertheless, this was another brilliant game and said Eagle offensive coordinator Jon Mundy, “I’m not usually too pleased after a loss, but tonight our boys played the best that Eagle lacrosse has ever played. I’m extremely proud of them.” The final score was 10-7 Timberline.
Centennial and Timberline will square off at 5pm on Saturday at Bishop Kelly High School (right after the 2pm All Star game). Centennial won their only regular season meeting 9-5 on April 28 at home.
